Putney Carpet Cleaners Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Putney Carpet Cleaners to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships and to implementing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery does not occur in our organisation or among our suppliers.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Putney Carpet Cleaners maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour in any form. This commitment applies to all aspects of our business, including direct employment, contracted services and the procurement of goods and materials. We expect the same high standards from all those we work with and will not knowingly engage with any organisation that is involved in, or associated with, modern slavery practices.
All managers and supervisors are responsible for promoting awareness of this policy and for ensuring that it is embedded in day-to-day decision making. Any breach of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Any breach by suppliers or contractors may result in the review, suspension or termination of commercial relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Putney Carpet Cleaners provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, cleaning products and chemicals, machinery and equipment, vehicles, consumables and subcontracted service providers. Although we operate in a sector that is generally considered to be at lower risk of complex international supply chains, we recognise that risks can exist at any level and we are committed to continuous improvement in identifying and mitigating them.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We seek to work only with suppliers and contractors who share our commitment to ethical conduct and respect for human rights. As part of our onboarding process, new suppliers are required to confirm that they comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights legislation and that they do not tolerate modern slavery or human trafficking within their own operations or supply chains.
Putney Carpet Cleaners conducts proportionate risk-based assessments of key suppliers. Where appropriate, we carry out supplier audits, which may include requesting evidence of policies, staff training programmes, right to work checks and due diligence processes. If concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to develop corrective action plans within a reasonable timeframe. If a supplier fails to demonstrate sufficient progress or cooperation, we reserve the right to reduce, suspend or terminate our commercial relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage all employees, subcontractors, suppliers and other business partners to speak up if they suspect or become aware of modern slavery, human trafficking or any related misconduct connected to Putney Carpet Cleaners or our supply chains. Concerns may be raised in person with a line manager, senior manager or another trusted member of the management team. Individuals may also report concerns through internal written reports or other established company reporting channels.
All reports will be taken seriously and treated sensitively. We will investigate concerns promptly, fairly and, where possible, confidentially. Putney Carpet Cleaners is committed to ensuring that no one suffers any form of retaliation, victimisation or disadvantage for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation.
Training and Awareness
We aim to raise awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement and supplier management. Training and briefings focus on recognising indicators of exploitation, understanding reporting lines and reinforcing our zero-tolerance stance. We also encourage suppliers and contractors to provide appropriate training within their own organisations.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
Putney Carpet Cleaners is committed to reviewing and improving our approach to combating modern slavery. This statement, together with our related policies and procedures, is reviewed at least annually by senior management. The review considers changes in legislation, best practice guidance, feedback from stakeholders and any incidents or concerns raised during the year.
Following each annual review, we will assess whether our existing controls, supplier due diligence, audit activity and training remain effective and proportionate. Where necessary, we will update our processes, strengthen contractual requirements with suppliers and enhance awareness-raising activities. Our aim is to ensure an ongoing, robust framework that supports the prevention, detection and remediation of modern slavery risks within our business and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Putney Carpet Cleaners and will be updated and published annually.
